PLACES TO VISIT IN BRISTOL

Following our blog on ‘Things to do in Bristol’ last summer, there are so many things to do and places to visit, we just had to write another! Here are some more great options:

The Clifton Suspension Bridge

We’ve mentioned it before, and we can’t mention it enough, this is a must-see when visiting Bristol.  A stroll along Clifton Down through the trees towards the Clifton Observatory opens out to a fantastic view of the Suspension Bridge.  Walk across the bridge, and you can stop for a great coffee at the friendly Coffee Cart. Learn more about the bridge at the free Visitor Centre.

The Harbourside

There is always something to see at the Harbourside!  A lovely circular walk you can start from The Mud Dock Café. Walk towards the M Shed Museum and round to the under-stated Underfall Yard Café & Visitor Centre and back via the Grain Barge Bar and Lloyds Amphitheatre. This is a great way to soak up Bristol’s unique atmosphere.  The route also passes the award-winning Brunel’s SS Great Britain attraction.

A great way to see Bristol Harbourside from a different perspective is by paddle board. Experienced or a complete beginner, SUP Bristol offers sessions to suit all. A brilliant way to view the amazing Bristol floating harbour.

Ashton Court

A nearby country park and mansion, with lots to offer.  There are walking routes and picnic spots in woods and grassland. Refreshments are available at cafes at both lower and higher grounds of the park. Ashton Court is perfect if you want a break from the city. If you visit Bristol during the summers months and coincide with the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta, this is a must-see.  Mountain bike hire is also available through Pedal Progression, with blue and red trails criss-crossing the estate, taking in views over Bristol.

Banksy’s Street Art Trail

His world-famous art is hidden all around the city of Bristol.  Banksy walking tour options can be found on Visit Bristol. You will also have plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants to sample on the way.

The Bristol Old Vic Theatre

Bristol’s theatre scene is once again thriving and cutting-edge.  The Bristol Old Vic is a pioneering theatre featuring innovative shows.  It is also a beautifully renovated 1766 building with an airy café and bar, which is worth a visit even if you’re not seeing a show.

There are so many other places to visit in Bristol, we may need to write another update soon…
