The term ‘serviced apartment’ is regularly thrown around, yet many people are left wondering what is a serviced apartment and how do they differ from other types of accommodation? 

Serviced apartments are fully furnished housing/ accommodation that is available for both short stays and long-term lets. They provide guests with a range of home comforts, such as sofas and TVs and provide hotel-like services, such as housekeeping, all within the overall rent price.

Serviced apartments are popular within the corporate arena, with many companies hosting their workers in serviced apartments when travelling for work. They are also perfect for leisure as they provide more space, privacy and freedom than hotel rooms as you are given a designated apartment. 

There are many types of serviced apartment accommodation ranging from studio apartments to large multi-bedroom houses. 

What is included within a serviced apartment?

As mentioned, serviced accommodation are fully furnished enabling guests to use them as you would if you were at home. Although features included will vary between accommodation providers, generally speaking the accommodation will include: 

• Fully equipped kitchens, with all utensils and appliances
• Laundry facilities, either within the apartment or within a designated laundry area, within the property. 
• Living space 
• Bedrooms/ designated bedroom area if it is is a studio 
• TV’s
• WIFI 
• Housekeeping services 

All of these amenities will be included within the overall rental cost and some providers also provide onsite facilities such as parking, gyms and conference rooms. 

Check In / Check Out

Just like hotels, serviced apartments have check in and check out times. Often with no reception areas this means contactless check-in procedures for ease of access for guests. 

Housekeeping 

Housekeeping services are also offered, normally on a weekly basis. This means your towels and bed linen are regularly changed and the housekeeping can be done at a time that suits you.

Long stay offers

Quite often, staying in a serviced apartment is actually more cost effective for long term stays. Set rates and discounts for longer stays are readily available and therefore if you plan on staying somewhere for longer than a week, it may be worth checking out a serviced apartment.
